[ARCHIVED] The Giving Grove welcomes visitors for 2023 harvest

giving grove 2023 5

The Giving Grove is ready for visitors to come pick ripe Asian pears grown right here in Spring Hill! Located behind the Civic Center in Friendship Park along Jefferson St., the Giving Grove invites residents and visitors to enjoy a fruitful experience while contributing to a greener environment.

Spring Hill Public Works Parks Maintenance employee Brian Cook placed signs at each tree letting residents know which ones are ripe. We ask that residents pick off the two Asian pear trees that are designated with "Pick Me!" signs. The other trees need a little more time. To make sure everyone gets a taste, kindly take a couple and leave some behind for others to enjoy.

The Giving Grove is on a mission to establish sustainable mini-orchards across the nation. It aims to provide nutritious calories, foster community connections, and enhance urban environments The Giving Grove utilities holistic growing techniques, avoiding artificial pesticides and fertilizers. Our orchard in Spring Hill needs volunteers throughout each season to perform maintenance on the trees. If you are interested in being a Giving Grove volunteer, email publicworks@springhillks.gov.
