Verify your water service line material

City News Center Posted on July 31, 2024

Spring Hill water customers can help the City complete an updated federal requirement by dedicating just 10 minutes to complete a survey.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) now requires water service providers to maintain an inventory of all service line materials used in the water system. We are using several methods to identify the material type of customer service lines, including an extensive review of existing records. There is no detectable lead in the City of Spring Hill's drinking water when it leaves the treatment plant, and the City does not have any lead pipes. This survey aims to identify the material of the customer-owned pipes.

Currently, the City is asking Spring Hill water customers living in homes constructed in or before 1986 to complete a survey. The EPA banned the use of lead in water service lines in 1986. While not all buildings constructed before 1986 have lead materials, there is a chance they might.LSL Spring Hill diagram

A water service line is the pipe that brings water into your home or business, typically located in the wall or floor of the building's foundation. Our online survey includes step-by-step instructions, complete with photos and graphics, to help you identify your service line material accurately.

We request that surveys be submitted by September 1, 2024.

For more information and to access the survey, visit our webpage here.

WaterOne and Water District 7 have service line inventory information online for their customers.
