Planning Commission

Overview

The Spring Hill Planning Commission was established to oversee land use changes within the City. To do so, the Commission is conveyed special authority and responsibility by the City Municipal Code Section 17.101, Article 1, Chapter XVII. 

The Commission consists of 9 members (7 City Residents, 1 for unincorporated Johnson County and 1 for unincorporated Miami County) to be appointed by the Council each to serve a term of three years, without compensation.  The city planning commission exercises all the powers and duties of the State of Kansas, and local ordinances that the City Council ordain, which pertain to the regulation and control of land use, general plan changes and land subdivision.

Planning Commission meetings are conducted on the 1st Thursday each month at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at 401 N. Madison Street.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend or watch the meetings live streamed to the City's YouTube channel.
