When a resident stopped breathing, two Spring Hill police officers used their instincts from years of training to save her life.

Officers Jeremy Johnson and Madyson McGill were honored Nov. 13 for their heroic actions. The two received Life Saving Awards from the Kansas City Metropolitan Chiefs and Sheriffs Association.

“We’re proud of Officers Johnson and McGill for being honored with these Life Saving Awards,” Capt. Adam Khan said. “They deserve these accolades as the outcome wouldn’t have been possible without their quick thinking, skill, and dedication.”

In February, Officers Johnson and McGill responded to a medical emergency, began CPR, and used an automated external defibrillator on the woman, who didn’t have a pulse.

They completed four cycles of CPR and delivered multiple shocks from the AED before the woman began breathing on her own. EMS and the fire department arrived and continued care as they transported her to the hospital, where she made a full recovery.
